BT's IPTV gains more content
BT has added deals with documentary maker National Geographic Channel, and with kids TV programming provider HIT Entertainment and Nelvana to it's forthcoming IPTV service. HIT Entertainment offers kids programs such as Bob the Builder and Pingu.
BT's IPTV service will be available in late summer 2006.

Interesting, but the big question is how will this content from BT differentiate from what I could already get from satellite TV? Hopefully, the indexing will be better than what my TiVo currently offers when I search for the different episodes I recorded of "Bob the Builder" for my son. But, will I be prepared to pay for Bob (produced by HIT Entertainment) when I can get it free from the BBC?
IPTV service providers need to think more deeply about what content they what to offer and how it is offered. To look at the issues in more detail check out my blog "Personalisation and Communities of Interest
